Tata’s New iPhone Plant to Start Production in November, Reports Say

Apple Inc has already marked its presence in the Indian market through its three Phase iPad manufacturing plants and is all set to introduce it fourth phase iPhone assembling facility. As per Business Standard, this new facility to be comes up at Tata Electronics and is due to begin production in November.

The new plant will be situated in Hosur in the Tamil Nadu state and will be the second iPhone assembling plant of Tata Electronics in the country. The first was set up after Tata bought a Taiwanese EMS maker, Wistron, in Karnataka. This new plant is in line with a major Apple Company plan of diversifying its manufacturing base from China and building a strong manufacturing facility in India.
The iPhone 16 is yet to be released to the market.

Hosur facility is a very big plant that occupies about 250 acres of land and this demonstrate seriousness of India in the development of the technology infrastructure. On the assembly plant, Tata Electronics’ current strategic move is to pump about Rs 6,000 crore enabling it to be at par with an amount slated in a related components unit established three years back. It concerns several aspects of the investment focusing on the support of manufacturing requirements for Apple and the improvement of the supply chain.

The timing of this plant’s launch is important. Apple had plans to start production in the month of November to improve its competence in the supply chain before the launch of new iPhone products and high demand during festive seasons. There are also aims to generate many employment opportunities in the new plant for the region so as to support the local economy and the industry of Tamil Nadu.
