There exists a new reservation policy in Indian Railways which has recently been put in place for enhancing the experience of some sections of the population known to be susceptible. From this month onwards, passengers requiring age concessions, disability certificates, and pregnant women or ladies having a lower berth preference will get preference for Lower and Side Lower.
This has been made in consideration of rising needs for such particular sorts of seats within the market.
Lower and Side Lower
When it comes to the selection of berths in a normal compartment of the train, Lower and Side Lower are preferred by most passengers because of the ease of access. Lower berths are chosen because it is more convenient to take them and they are also more comfortable, especially for passengers with limited mobility, or with children, pregnant women, and the elderly.
It shall be understood that these groups stand a better chance of obtaining these much-sought-after seats whenever they book their tickets under the new policy introduced by the Indian Railways. This is most likely to improve their travelling comfort and security in equal measure.
The change aims at alleviating major apprehensions that these groups encounter in accessing good houses, not forgetting the fact that during rush hours all the train’s compartments are occupied.
Indian Railways
It also fits into a general policy of the Indian Railways that has sought to end train segregation in recent years. Earlier, such seats were not categorically created for these categories of people, which caused difficulties and, in some cases, even unpleasant situations for those who required such seats most of all.
These are passengers who can now be assured of a better reservation process that will accord them the necessary support they require. This policy should be debated positively by many who have at one time or the other, been inconvenienced by the inability to get adequate seating arrangement.
